Veleda is a proud native of Bloomington-Normal. While she has lived on both coasts (Virginia and California) with her family, Mclean County is the place she always called home. Veleda is the proud mother of three children. With a college student in California, she enjoys frequent trips to Southern Cal and traveling to visit friends and family throughout the country.
Veleda is passionate about service to others and commits her free time to serving on the District 87 School Board, Bloomington-Normal Sports Commission, Westminster Village Foundation Board, and Wayman AME Church. She also helps local students with college prep and serves as a guest panelist for IWU Admitted Students Day. In October, Veleda will receive her Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology with an emphasis on Social Media and Technology.
In 2015, Veleda left State Farm Agent Tom Brokaw’s team to join the Mclean County Public Defender’s Offices as a legal assistant. In this capacity she assisted attorneys in the felony, traffic, and juvenile delinquent divisions. As her expertise with case management, client communication, and document preparation increased, she was always looking for ways to support attorneys and streamline processes. Experience with Mclean County systems and managing high volume dockets prepared her for the transition to Judicial Assistant with the Mclean County Circuit Clerk. In this role, she supported judges in the traffic and misdemeanor department. The additional obstacles faced by managing busy courtrooms through the pandemic proved challenging and yet rewarding for all court administration and staff.
In January 2022, she made the jump to private practice with Pioletti Pioletti & and Nichols. The family atmosphere and emphasis on service made it an easy choice for Veleda. She continues to assist attorneys with family, criminal, and traffic related issues. She is proud to be a part of the Pioletti and Nichols family as she continues to gain experience and knowledge.
